Port of Spain | February 5, 2025 – The Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) joined in the global celebration of literacy by participating in World Read Aloud Day at the Nelson Street Boys’ School today. Invited by Guardian Media Limited, UTC’s involvement underscores its commitment to supporting the holistic development of Trinidad and Tobago’s youth. Recognizing the vital role of literacy and education in shaping young lives, UTC’s participation reinforces its dedication to investing in the next generation.

Rhian Clement, Head of Trust Services at UTC, shared excerpts from Herman Melville’s classic, Moby Dick, with the students. “Reading opens doors to endless possibilities for young minds,” Clement commented. “At UTC, we believe in investing in our youth, and fostering a love of reading is a crucial part of that investment. I am delighted to be here today representing UTC, sharing stories and inspiring the next generation of leaders.

This initiative complements UTC’s broader educational outreach, including its SEA Scholarship Programme, which provides financial assistance to high-achieving students transitioning from the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) through to tertiary education. UTC also delivers financial literacy sessions locally and regionally through its UTC Global Balanced Fund Limited (UTC GBFL) in St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and Jamaica. A recent partnership with the Darren Sammy Foundation further expanded the reach of these vital literacy programs.
