In today’s environment, we are faced with people who have become more sophisticated in their techniques to scam citizens of their money. You do not want to be a victim of fraud as it is a severe inconvenience to you and your family. Your best defense, however, is securing your card and personal funds against such attacks.
DOs
- Be aware of your surroundings and have your card ready, as you approach an ATM.
- Always use ATM machines during the day or at well-lit locations during the night
- COVER your hand when entering your PIN at an ATM terminal. Make a habit of doing this even when you are alone.
- Check your statements regularly or review all your transaction activity via Uon or UTC ATM mini statements.
- Immediately contact UTC via one of the following options to have your card blocked, if an ATM captures your card or you notice any unusual activity:
- 625-8648 Available daily 7 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. inclusive of public holidays. After 10:00 p.m., a voice message can be left.
- Send an email to visaservices@ttutc.com advising that your card has been captured. Be sure to include a contact number as well.
- Visit the nearest UTC Investment Centre to report that your card has been captured, and to have it blocked. Verify your last transaction activity.
DON’Ts
- Use any ATM that has suspicious protruding parts or unusual card readers or if you smell glue
- Accept help from anyone at the ATM.
- Allow persons to be looking over your shoulder when you enter your PIN.
- Reveal your PIN to anyone, not even family. No staff member will ever ask for your PIN.
- Write your PIN down or use PINs such as date of birth or other significant dates
